Nutrition Literacy

A project that explores nutrition literacy among college-going students in New York, using design research methods to create engagement opportunities.

The study captures the current understanding students have regarding nutrition labels and identifies the areas of opportunity for a design intervention.

The Process

The design process was followed through a series of steps that led us to our final insights.

This was a combination of primary and secondary research, data collection and synthesis, and findings and insights.

We conducted primary research through cultural probes and a series of interviews. Identifying stakeholders and mapping out the theory of change allowed us to view where the gap in the system was and where the opportunity to design lies.

Cultural Probes

Conducting research through cultural probes in order to get a better understanding of the current situation amongst students.

Data Collection

Categorising the collected data by breaking down each response and filing it under the participants name.

This allowed us to view each of the response by itself in order to observe emerging themes and prep the data to be synthesised.

Data Synthesis

Finding common themes of the responses and grouping them into the corresponding category to better understand what are the major contributors of the problem.
